Dynamic equations of motion describing car rocking are presented; equations are then simplified and used to determine car-body roll frequency and its dependence on roll amplitude; as result of analysis, graphical technique was developed which shows rail disturbance as function of truck-center distance for any desired rail length, wheel base, track profile, and rail stagger; account of experimental history is presented.
