Paper outlines development program for and describes design of single-axle trucks and articulated connections; these components were developed, manufactured, and applied to articulated, multiple-unit, high-capacity hopper car; functioning characteristics of single-axle trucks, suspension, and articulated connections are discussed and summary of road test results is given; conclusions are drawn in regard to feasibility and practicability of using single-axle trucks and articulated connections for multiple-unit, high-capacity cars.
