Necessary evil in monocoque aircraft structures is provision of doors, windows, access holes, etc; these seem always to occur at locations where moments and shears are approaching maximum values; where materials of low ductility, such as molded plywood, are employed, considerable care must be exercised in providing reinforcing around holes; methods of reinforcement are suggested.
