Successful military use and increase in pay load which follows when powered airplane is used to tow string of gliders have led to optimistic evaluation of glider train both for military and commercial purposes; paper investigates performance of towed glider to see whether these expectations are likely to be realized; theorems in performance of towed glider; performance, range and payload calculations for glider train; discussion of results of calculations.
