Airplane hangars of novel design and construction have been developed for use in combat zones; transverse bents, supporting canvas roof covering, were designed as tied, 3-hinged arches to permit erection on uneven terrain and also to produce building that is resilient to explosive forces; by using relatively high design stresses, light weight trusses were obtained which can be economically transported by air to erection sites.
