Endeavor made to examine critically, various structural arrangements adopted in modern tankers so that their relative merits and demerits may be assessed; it is shown why certain troubles develop with different types and what should be done to remove them; new arrangement evolved which, while it does not introduce any new principle, does combine in one structure those features which have proved satisfactory in service.
