Account of mishap which overtook "Daphne" at launching on Clyde on July 3 1883; upsetting fact which had to be faced was that ship, which, according to established traditional rule, should have been perfectly safe to launch, had shown herself to be so deficient in stability that she had capsized within few seconds after clearing the ways.
