Transients importance in range control of ballistic missiles and in separation of boosters or different missile stages, include nature of thrust decay, impulse increment of thrust termination transient and time constant of transient; equations developed for idealized cases, and results plotted; analysis considered good approximation for liquid propellant rockets with instantaneous propellant shutoff and "sliverless" burnout of solid propellant rockets.
