Solution to problem of controlling and stabilizing velocity of carriage used to tow ship models in testing tanks is described; degree of stability achieved is strikingly illustrated by fact that no damping of any kind is necessary on Kempf and Remmers pendulum type dynamometer which, in modified version, permits determination of resistance of model to 0.01 newton.
