Applicability of method, particularly for examination of welds in new construction or ship repair; arrangements of units for on-site and fabrication bay use are described; for example, tungsten-copper alloy produces reasonably portable container head weighing 45-50 lb; sources are Co 60, Cs 137, Ir 192, and table shows steel thickness from 1/4 to 8 in. penetrated, and half of source for each.
