Marine transportation is economically attractive and is feasible; design data sheets are presented for 2 1/4, 3 1/2 and 9% nickel steels, and for 304 stainless steel, for such low temperature use; included are standard specifications and their requirements, pressure vessel design stresses, fatigue properties, and test results on low temperature notch toughness; results of fracture tests on cylindrical welded prototype tanks of 9% nickel and stainless steel filled with liquid nitrogen of -- 320 F.
