Thin ship moving in calm water with constant velocity and oscillating in pitch and heave is considered; velocity potential is obtained from Green's theorem after systematic linearization in terms of perturbation parameters representing beam-length ratio and oscillation amplitude; asymptotic expansion is derived from which energy radiation is obtained; coefficients of damping and increased wave resistance are then found by separation of energy components.
