Duke, with duties ranging from ship docking to regular towing, is 45 ft 6 in. by 14 ft 6 in. and draws 6 ft of water; power is from GM6-110 diesel rated 300 hp at 1800 rpm; 45-ft Duchess, designed as all purpose carrier, has been used for docking and also in towing business shifting barges; GM 6-71 diesel is rated 235 hp at 2300 rpm; both vessels were built for Hays Launch and Tug Service by Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding Corp.
