Pamir, built by Aktiebolaget Gavle Varv for Life Saving Service, Leningrad; length oa 238 ft 4 in., breadth 38 ft 2 in., draft 12 ft 2 in.; gross 1443 tons; powerful towing winch, two diving stations, decompression chamber, underwater welding and cutting equipment and television are provided; ship also has facilities for fire fighting and for supplying other ships with fuel oil, lubricating oil and fresh water; two 10-cyl MAN engines each develop 2100 hp at 275 rpm.
