Earthwork and blasting procedures for converting Baltimore and Ohio Railroad's 254 ft long tunnel no. 20 at Petroleum, W Va, to open cut operation, which saved money and removed clearance restriction by daylighting tunnel, required removal of earth, rock and tunnel lining to subgrade elevation and for 24 ft on each side of center line of track; total amount of excavation was 41,300 cu yd; estimated conversion cost was $38,000.
