Ferry built by Hawthorn, Leslie entered service of British Railways in July 1965, provides accommodation for 1000 passengers and about 150 automobiles; length oa 369 ft, breadth molded 55 ft, draft 12 ft 9 in., gross about 3800 tons; two sets of steam turbines, built by Hawthorn, Leslie to Pametrada design, develop maximum of 6000 shp at 274 rpm.
