Design of Othello is aimed at producing compact, seaworthy vessel, suitable not only for operations in North Atlantic, but also in warmer climates, if desired; essential feature is size of factory deck and hold capacity, 27,000 cu ft, achieved by placing engine room aft; length oa 224 ft, breadth molded 39 ft, depth molded to upper deck 25 ft, design draft 15 ft, design displacement 1550 tons, capacity of deep freeze hold 27,000 cu ft; 8-cyl Mirrlees National engine develops 2350 bhp at 400 rpm; plan.
