Study of under-expanded jet was made using modified "hot-shot" wind-tunnel facility; Mach disk location was insensitive to ratio of specific heats, condensation, nozzle lip geometry, and absolute pressure level; for overall pressure ratios to about 300, 000 Mach disk location was found to vary as square root of overall pressure ratio; expression for Mach number distribution along jet axis is given to good approximation as function of specific heat ratio.
