Human factors in vehicle checkout are discussed from viewpoint of system-oriented mechanical engineer; vehicle checkout systems are considered primarily in terms of static or dynamic test mode; secondary parameters are degree of automaticity and type of vehicle system; emphasis is on those human factors which can be expected to figure in future systems; task-based analyses are made to establish criteria for guidance in planning, designing, and producing underground, undersea, sea and land vehicle checkout systems.
