Design of 2500 hp Co-Co units supplied by Clayton Equipment Co, Great Britain, and fitted with French-built Sulzer Vee-engines is featured; to meet Cuban Railways' requirements drag-boxes of British design had to be redesigned to accommodate central buffing and draw gear; cab was modified also to carry head light in roof and illuminated number boxes on sides; Sulzer 12-cyl LVA24 engine is set for this application at 2534 bhp at 1050 rpm; traction motors are four-pole type TM6468 axle-hung nose-suspended machines each with output of 336 hp; body and underframe consist of body-sides connected by cross stretchers, deckplate, bulkheads and roof sections, and terminated at ends by drag boxes and end trusses.
