Report on experiments with International Red Diamond 450 engine converted to propane; compression ratio raised to 8.1, pressure reducing valve installed on engine to step down tank pressure, and liquefied petroleum mixing valve replaced gasoline carburetor; performance shows less engine wear and valve burning; mileage on propane was 7.1 mpg compared with 6 mpg for gasoline engine.
