Recorder developed at Bldg Research Station, records measured speed by drawing lines on chart and uses cam to move pen; Derby research laboratories, British Railways, applied same principle to speed recorder with range of from 5 to 100 mph, in which pen is replaced by mechanism which prints speed of train and time of measurement, on narrow paper tape; Everett Edgcumbe train speed recorder containing simple analogue computer, described.
