Design proposed by Cargo Ship Task Committee, Nat Security Indus Assn, to attain maximum facility for handling cargo without excessive cost or undue sacrifice of other essential characteristics; characteristics include holds of rectangular shape and depth to accommodate average height of pallets tiered to three levels, flat decks, cargo gear to handle material at terminal facilities or remote ports without fixed facilities and provisions for transferring cargo at sea.
