Mechanism, known as Simplex camshaft drive, relating particularly to steam locomotives, in which steam distribution is effected by means of poppet valves actuated by rotary cams, designed by Jupiter Steam Appliances Inc, New York, NY; camshaft drive has been fitted to locomotive having poppet valve gear with conventional drive, retaining existing cylinders; diagrams show mechanism as fitted to 4-6-2 locomotive, and sections of cam connecting rod drive and compensator.
