Interstate Commerce Commission's Bureau of Transport Economics and Statistics in latest issue of "Monthly Comment," show that Diesel electric locomotives handled 33.8% of freight service gross ton miles produced by Class I "steam" railways during first 10 mo of 1949; report also made on changes in railroad capital structure, and on sales of motor trucks and use of private highway vehicles in manufacturing industries.
