Addition of rubber, from 1 to 15% of weight of asphalt in bituminous mix, decreases ductility and flow of mix and raises softening point; pavement containing rubber does not lose its skid resistant qualities as rapidly as does pavement without rubber; early tests in Holland; cost of adding rubber; tests in Texas, Massachusetts and New York City; airfield pavements.
