In order to determine highway lane widths and shapes for minimum design, large truck combinations were driven in short radius turns, and resulting tracks were measured and plotted; results of trials and recommended curve data and lane widths are given in tabular form for various radii and central angles; sharpest turn recommended is 50 ft radius for outside lane edge; lane width including tolerance of 2.0 ft on both sides is 25 ft.
