Propeller, 18 ft in diam, designed by S.E.Slocum and built by Doran Co, Oakland, Calif, is in operation on two turbine driven sister ships, where it replaces 4-bladed propellers of same diam; 5-bladed wheels installed to remedy troublesome rumble in reduction gears, which was cured completely by change; performance of vessel was improved; table shows performance of one of vessels over 6-mo period, both loaded and light.
