Following Morro Castle in 1934, much legislation was introduced on subject of preventing and controlling fires on passenger vessels, and portion finally adopted was applicable to new construction undertaken under provisions of Merchant Marine Act of 1936; description of materials used and equipment installed on passenger vessels in order to prevent fires and accidents.
