Advantages of twin motor over single machine are said to be: smaller weight, smaller space occupied, better power factor, smaller inertia in rotating masses, series connection of two armatures (lighter apparatus), and simpler construction; disadvantages: more numerous bearings, limitations in lengths of motor axes, and inaccessibility of commutators.
