Describes scheme perfected for separating oil from ballast water, to avoid necessity of vessel having to go beyond 3-mile limit to discharge ballast water; specially equipped barge of 250 tons is provided into which oily ballast water is discharged. Structural features of barge and method of operation; trial results.
