Description of car in Royal Scot train, provided with Diesel generating sets so that cooking and heating functions are carried out wholly electrically, thus doing away with gas; sets are of identical type and each has 25-kw, 115-v G.E.C. d-c generator; 4 cyl Beard-more engine develops 42 bhp at 1400 rpm; exhaust gases pass from manifold into Clarkson waste-heat boiler which can recover 15, 000 Btu per hr, used for hot-water supply.
