Vehicular traffic noise near high-speed highway has been measured and analyzed by various schemes and much quantitative data provided; comparison with certain maximum permissible noise limits is presented; extensive study of such noise shows that level, frequency content and time duration all play important role in terms of subjective evaluations; limitations of various rating methods and factors to consider in future are discussed.
