Common methods of receiving and handling wood chips into storage and out of it are described; transportation of chips, from sources away from mill, is mainly by rail and some by trucks; chip storage is almost entirely outside; more rapid means of rail car unloading is made possible by installation of Rotary Railroad Car Dumper; emphasis today is on high capacity chip handling systems.
