Field performance study on five experimental casing pipes under mainline railroads at various locations; measured deflections of several abandoned casings were obtained; method of design for bored-in-place casing pipes under railroads and highways, based on facts obtained in experimental research was developed; earth loads are calculated by Marston Theory of loads on ditch conduits; rail traffic loads are estimated by Newmark integration of Boussinesq equation and highway traffic loads by Holl integration; using systems of locomotives and truck wheel loadings, casing pipe thicknesses for range of pipe sizes and depths of cover were calculated.
