Biquadratic or quartic equations arise in studies of aircraft stability as characteristic equation which determines frequencies and dampings of lateral, or, alternatively, longitudinal modes of motion of aircraft with fixed controls; it is shown that combination of algebraic and numerical methods affords, in general, powerful method of solution.
