Thompson and Sons, Ltd, for Prince Lines, for service between New York and South American Ports; deadweight capacity 11,230 tons; beam 63 ft 2 in.; depth molded to upper deck 40 ft 9 in.; two propelling engines are of Doxford opposed piston design, with 4 cylinders 600 mm in diam, having centrally arranged scavenging pump into which air is drawn from engine room through semi-Vortex silencer.
