Carbon dioxide fire protection for tank vessels includes facilities for protecting hazards represented by ship's cargo tanks and those common to non-cargo spaces; in general, there are two methods for protecting these hazards with carbon dioxide gas: first, common battery of carbon dioxide cylinders may protect all above spaces by using direction valves in main carbon dioxide feed pipe from cylinders; second, hazards may be protected individually by small separate systems.
