Critical review of report prepared by Saunders-Roe, indexed from Nov 25 issue, in which case for flying boat was clearly stated; two major failings are pointed out, i.e., flying boat can only provide coast to coast transport, so that in effect it is only doing part of job; ton-mileage loss of payload due to sacrificing internal space to arrangement of steps and chines may be sufficient to turn scales in favor of landplane.
