Nearly 1300 passenger cars, 130 freight and service cars and 77 electric locomotives werebought during 1929 by electric railway's; cars for handling heavy traffic on city surface lines predominated; large car orders also were placed for rapid-transit lines and for electrified suburban service; interurbans purchased comparatively few new cars; rolling stock ordered during 1929 as listed under 22 States, Porto Rico and Canada.
