Survey of changes which have occurred during past 10 years shows that extensions made by electric railways have largely offset abandonments of unprofitable lines; despite steady growth of bus operation net decrease in electric trackage has been less than 10 per cent; mileage of extensions and also of abandonments decreased in 1929 as compared with 1928; volume of track reconstruction continued on both urban and interurban properties.
