Cost of oil locomotive is only half that of steam locomotive; in case of oil-electric train, new standard of reliability, exceeding that of steam locomotive, may have been set up; in addition to higher efficiency and easier maintenance and control, its operation under traffic conditions has several advantages; units up to 200 tons can be controlled by one man and fueling services greatly reduced.
