To carry out standardization work in German locomotive construction there has been formed by locomotive builders General Locomotive Standards Committee, known as ALNA (Allgemeiner Lokomotiv-Normenausschuss); body works in close cooperation with German State Railway Co., Car Standards Committee, and German Standards Committee; approximately 350 separate standard sheets for locomotive parts have appeared besides 12 sheets for general railway work which refer to construction of both locomotives and cars.
