There appears to be no information of detailed character as to exact behavior of steam in locomotive cylinder under varying running conditions; writer reconstructed quantitatively two series of indicator diagrams taken at Pennsylvania Railroad Co.'s locomotive testing plant at Altoona; these relate to E6S 4-4-2 and K4S 4-6-2 superheater locomotives; he suggests that it would be worth while to discover just how locomotive efficiency varies with superheat.
