First Japanese motorship with double-acting two-stroke engines; length b.p. 415 ft.; breadth molded 56 ft. 9 in.; depth molded 31 ft. 9 in.; gross tonnage 5847; sea speed full loaded 12 1/2 knots; hull built on new system; propelling machinery consists of six-cylinder double-acting two-stroke Diesels, working on air-injection principle; cylinders are 600 mm. diam. with piston stroke of 900 mm. and engine develops 3200 b.hp. at normal speed of 107 r.p.m.; auxiliary machinery is all electrically driven.
