St. Louis is twin motorship of 16,000 gross registered tons with two masts and two stacks; length 575 ft.; width 73 ft.; first transatlantic liner to be propelled by geared Diesel machinery; two Bremer Vulcan high-speed engines develop total 12,000 b.hp.; each engine has six cylinders.
