For ultimate success of oil engine reduction gears, it is essential that torsional vibration problems of complete drive are carefully considered because negative torques in operating range due to torsional criticals must be avoided or teeth of gears will suffer; present investigation is confined to case of natural free vibration frequencies exclusively.
