Principal characteristics of Tidewater are: length o.a. 267 ft. 0 1/2 in., breadth molded 255 ft., depth molded 44 ft., draft 15 ft. 6 in., displacement 3600 tons, deadweight capacity 2300 tons, cargo capacity, 20,000 bbl.; machinery installation introduced De La Vergne, 4-cycle airless-injection trunk-piston type Diesel engine; two units, each with 17-in. bore and of 24-in. stroke designed to develop 625 b.hp. at 225 r.p.m., are installed.
