Due to vibrations in railroad transportation, pulverized-coal particles become intermingled or matted; phenomena governing this occurrence and means of prevention were investigated in laboratory and on railroad car in motion; results show that matting occurs during first 10 or 16 km. of journey; it is further shown that loading in vacuum shortens loading period considerably and volume of loads can be increased.
