Electric propulsion and use of Diesel engines have been mentioned repeatedly, but, apart from constructional difficulties involved by Diesel-electric propulsion of vessels in neighborhood of 60,000 tons, economics of case must be considered; in present state of practice and for horsepower required by any transatlantic liner which is to beat existing records, choice still lies with steam turbines.
